Cameron Diaz started life on August 30, 1972. In the beginning she began a career as a model and then became a popular actress, gaining fame in films as as The Mask, There’s Something About Mary, and Charlie’s Angels. She also lent her voice to the character of Princess Fiona in the Shrek movie franchise.

Cameron grew up in San Diego, California, and comes from a Cuban-American and English-German-Cherokee heritage. She started her modeling career at the age of 17, at which age she was featured on the cover of Seventeen magazine. At 18, she signed with Elite Model Management. She worked as a model for the next several years and had agreements with many big companies, such as Calvin Klein and Levi’s.

When she was 21, Cameron auditioned for a role in The Mask. She had no prior acting experience but obtained the lead female part in any case. Having landed the part, she decided it was probably time to start acting lessons, which she did. The Mask went on to become one of the top ten grossing films in 1994 and earned Cameron nominations for several awards.

Cameron had a string of smaller roles over the next few years and then had major success with My Best Friend’s Wedding and There’s Something About Mary. She went on to star in a movie version of Charlie’s Angels and then landed the role as Princess Fiona in Shrek. Her voice earned her $10 million for that role.

Many more films came and went, and in 2010, Forbes Magazine ranked her as the richest Hispanic female celebrity.
