Neighbor Should’ve Installed Security Cameras

The business behind me had a break in attempt yesterday. It is fortunate that the attempt was unsuccessful, but they are of course trying to figure out what happened. I was smart enough to get security cameras installed at my own business, something that the business that experienced the break in attempt noticed. So they have now asked me to have a look at my surveillance footage to see if I can find out what happened. Unfortunately my cameras were setup to monitor my own property of course, and not really pointing at theirs so we couldn’t find anything. It was disappointing because we never really want to miss a chance to bring a criminal to justice. Really I fully believe that every business should install security cameras. I mean we are in a pretty safe area so I can understand where they could be lulled into a false sense of security, but as we have seen crime can and does happen anywhere. And you can’t rely on other people’s cameras to protect you.

We did review our footage and see several cars go by at around 3AM, these vehicles were likely involved in the break-in attempt. However since the neighbor’s front door is where they were trying to break in, and our cameras were not pointed at that area, we can’t see exactly what happened. We were able to get the make and model of the cars, so that should hopefully be of some help potentially. But without direct footage of the actual crime itself, it may be difficult to figure out exactly who committed this crime, and to prosecute them even if we do somehow get an idea s to who might have done it.

Again the area where our businesses are located is fairly safe, so I’m not overly critical of this individual for not getting security cameras. But I think any business needs to view this as a necessary expense. Every business has valuable property, be it just desks and computers, or actual inventory for sale. Cameras act as an effective deterrent because people know they will be caught if they try to commit a crime. And if a crime is committed, they can easily be caught and prosecuted. This is the best thing about the cameras, is that they take people who commit crimes and remove them from the streets, thus reducing the number of criminals who walk among us. If everyone got these cameras crime would really be greatly reduced and our society would be a better place.

This is not an area where you can afford to be cheap. For the modest cost of a security camera system you keep watch over your home or business. Not only will you have recorded footage that will be invaluable should a crime occur, but you can also view your property over the internet. It is of course natural to wonder what is happening at your home or business while you are away. There is always this nagging wish that we all have that we could see what’s happening live, just for a little peace of mind. You no longer have to wonder or have any doubt, modern technology has provided the answer, get that peace of mind that you deserve.
