Test Drive Ford Figo - A Review

The first thing helped me question Ford’s new baby in the market was its name. Well, names of cars and bikes made me always question their reason to be. For instance Fiesta, meaning festivity or joy, includes a purpose behind its choice. May be ford desired to attribute a sense of festivity or enjoyment with it. It’s hinglish slogan states as “Go Fida!” which completes this is, too.

Figo is definitely an Italian expression which describes exactly what is ‘wow’ and attractive. Ford appears to be deeply in love with alliteration post success of Ford Festiva, Fiesta and Fusion. Figo fills the position missing in Ford’s catalogue in India by launching an automobile packed with high end features and funky colors but still isn’t heavy for pocket of middle class consumer class.

Kamal and I were on our method to catch Toyota’s most talked Q Revolution exhibition. That is when this funky colored car standing outside the showroom opposite to Bowering Institute grabbed our attention. We chose to put Toyotas on hold and provide a go for this one. One honest thing about Figo, you simply cant ignore it. The manufacturers did not make an effort to be different compared to lot, however they have succeeded in making it stick out within the crowd. Exhilarating colors, attractive inside and modernized shaped body makes one stop and stare without a doubt.

Figo is packed with handful of ‘first in its segment’ features. For example, it has biggest boot space when compared with other cars within the segment. And it is quite visible, you don’t need an evidence to prove it. Smartly designed structure enables you to keep much more luggage than any other car. Figo dares introducing handful of leading edge features, too. E.g. Volume control for the music system per the increase in acceleration (More you speed it up, you don’t get to hear to your favorite track, actually!). The smart key which comes with the package, enables you to control all four doors or driver’s gate in simultaneously.

Figo’s patrol engine is a 1.2L one with 70 BHP power at 6250 rpm. The maximum torque for this one is 104 Nm at 4000rpm. The diesel version includes a 1.4L capacity which pumps out 68bhp of maximum power at 4000rpm and 160Nm of maximum torque at 2000rpm.

Figo is 3795mm long, 1680mm wider and 1427mm taller. The dimensions qualifies the Figo for small car excise duty. Ford claims the Figo features longest wheelbase in the class - 2489mm. All the three variants of Figo is equipped with 14? x 5.5? steel wheels (no alloys even for top end variant). Figo operates on 175/65R14 radial tyres (both front and rear). Figo uses disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The suspension in front is the common Mcpherson strut and at the rear may be the twist beam one. 45 litres fuel tank could ensure an extended driving range for Figo customers.

The superb cabin and boot space can surely lure the customers and something single knob to adjust both side view mirrors adds an additional gist to it.

Conclusion:

Kamal had a test drive of Figo Diesel which showed one thing for sure that it has irresistible handling on the road. Although the response time was delayed than other cars like Swift, it ran smoother than others. One of the things might lead to inconvenience towards the habitual drivers, i.e. Indicators on the left side of the wheel. One needs to obtain accustomed to it for sure. One more thing lacks is the power window for rear doors. It’s difficult to obtain them in any way because of the collision with wheel arch.

Figo is a good deal because of its cost.

Test Drive Ford Figo and get a feel of how the car is for yourself. I’ve done my best reviewing its performance, now its your turn. How do you feel after your Ford Figo Test Drive?
